A furious Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Sam Nyamweya has disbanded the technical bench of the national team Harambee Stars with immediate effect after the bitter loss to Lesotho in an Afcon 2015 qualifier on Sunday.Game ended 0-0 therefore Lesotho qualified with a 1-0 Aggregate score line.
The axe landed on Belgian coach Adel Amrouche the FKF Technical director Jacob Ghost Mulee and two assistants James Nandwa and Ken Odhiambo who according to FKF failed to deliver.
“The federation has given the technical bench all the necessary support during the qualifiers but they have failed to deliver,” Nyamweya said .
“We shall inform all Kenyans of the new restructuring of the entire technical bench soon,” he added.
Adel Amrouche was appointed in February 2013 to replace Frenchman Henry Michel but constant run ins with the players and indiscipline ensured he was banned for one year by CAF after being accused of spitting on a match official when Kenya played away to Lesotho
A section of hungry fans accused both Amrouche and Mulee of failing to choose players according to merit despite their current form.
One fan Joseph Odongo speaking to soka25east.com after the loss at Nyayo Stadium said “Its sad that instead of both Amrouche and Mulee working to develop the team they ensured only players favourable to them were called up and the worst part is that they forgot their coaching work and embarked on selling players to benefit their pockets”.
