ZESCO United will face Zanaco in the Samuel Zoom Ndhlovu Charity Shield at Woodlands Stadium this afternoon with the game set for 15:00 hrs.
A lot is stake in this fixture that will be a repeat of the Absa Cup Final in which ZESCO United beat Zanaco 4-1 to lift the trophy.
The two teams will meet again in the league after fixtures were released and both coaches will be looking to get a psychological edge before that game.
Zanaco named a strong team for the assignment against ZESCO United with the likes of Lawrence Chungu, Jimmy Nakena, Belchance Makiese, Kebson Kamanga, Ziyo Tembo, Tiberius Lombard, Mwansa Nsofwa all included in the squad.
Numba Mumamba has an opportunity to send a big statement by picking the first trophy on offer at the beginning of the season and do a revenge on the ABSA Cup Final loss.
ZESCO United on the other hand will look to Jesse Were, John Chingandu, Clement Mwape, the new man Umaru Kasumba, Thambani Kamusoko the Zimbabwean midfielder, Quadri Kola, John Chingandu and of course veteran goalkeeper Jacob Banda.
George Lwandamina will have a busy two weeks of football as they also get ready to host Green Mamba FC of Eswatini in the CAF Champions League Preliminary Round second leg on the 24th of August at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
Another trophy is on the cards for ZESCO United but Zanaco have a great opportunity to deny their rivals another piece of silverware.
