Rayon Sports FC interim coach Djuma Masudi has praised the performance of his side in the first round of the league campaign, adding that his target is to win the league.

“Our performance in the first round of the season has been fine; mental strength among the boys is okay, our position on the log is good, we have 32 points. We won nine games and lost only one out of 15 played. Our focus is still the same, winning the league title,” Masudi said.

With the transfer window still open until April 16, Masudi is targeting to sign one striker, preferably a Rwandan since the club already has four foreigners.

In February, the club signed Malian striker Ismael Diarra to partner with Ugandan forward Davis Kasirye, and the two are essentially keeping Rayon Sports fans cheerful.

Kasirye has established himself as the club leading forward with six goals in the league. Masudi is also trying out Burundian young midfielder Mike Mugenyi with a view to sign him permanently.

Masudi’s team begins its second round campaign on April 17 when they face Marines FC at Kigali Regional Stadium.

Rayon Sports last won the league title in 2013, which was their seventh national title since the club was formed in 1968.

Rayon Sports and Mukura Victory Sport have 32 points and are separated by goal difference in second and third positions respectively, two points behind leaders and defending champions, APR FC.
