Part of the action of the girls final match at the Homabay county stadium
Homabay County was selected to host this year’s Nyanza regional ball games Term B.
The County, however, was facing a possible blackout regarding hosting as the main venue, the Homabay County Stadium was declared dangerous, unfit and hazardous to host any football match .
KSSA Nyanza region head and KPL head of Stadia both expressed their dissatisfaction with the kind of pitch at the County statdium.
The pitch hosted some matches of the County Games that ended today with several players sustaining injuries forcing the organizers to look for an alternative Host County with neighbouring Kisii County fronted.
The County Governor quickly intervened with fears of facing attack from the electorates and the residents .The Governor is reported to have orederd the construction of a stand at the stadium with works ongoing.
“It is good the stands are being made but we are worried of that state of the ground.The grass cant grow within five days.We have really waited for such a touranament and it coukld have been a blow if we didnt host” a resident told soka25east.
More than Ksh 250 million was allocated for the upgrading of the Homabay Stadium but the works had not begun causing a political storm between the Governor and his main challenger Oyugi Magwanga .
The games will begin next week Tuesday with the County being represented by both Ringa and Ligisa.
Migori will be represented by Kanga
