The Secondary Ball games began in the year 1970.
It has been existent for 46 years now with only 1988 the only year it was not held
Kakamega high school also known as the green commandoes are the most succefull of the schools winning 12 titles followed by Mombasa High school and St Antonys Kitale with 4 titles each ,Homabay High school with 3 titles .Kamkunji ,Njoro,Musingu and Kapenguria have won 2 titles each with the rest one each .
Kakamega and Homabay have reached the finals and lost in 3and 2 occasions respectively.
The first National secondary ball games was held in 1970 in Kagumo in the present Aberdares where Nairobi School won beating Sawagongo in the finals.the following year the championships were held in Mombasa where Menengai beat Homabay High school to win .Homabay went on to win the 1972 editions which returned back to Kagumo beating Khamis High school.
Only Njoro,Kakamega ,Kapenguria ,Mombasa and Kamkunji have won back to back titles
