English Premier League side Arsenal have received a huge boost in their bid to sign Atletico Madrid and Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey.
According to reports by the Express, Partey is unhappy with the contract offer put on the table by Atletico Madrid.
The Ghanaian is said to have already held talks with Arsenal about a summer move, according to Ghanaian journalist Rahman Osman.
Partey is said to be Keen to change the scenery with a move to London on the cards this coming summer.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has made the 26-year-old a top target, with Partey available and will have to trigger his £43million release clause in his contract.
Atletico want to keep Partey and have table a new deal that reports claim will double his wages from £65,000 a week to £130,000 a week.
The Gunners have been given a further boost after Partey’s father Jacob claimed last week that Thomas has began negotiations with a view of a possible switch to north London.
Jacob Partey told Ghanaian radio station Tru FM, that his son had told him personally that talks have been held between the Gunners and his representatives.
“It all depends on the offer Atletico are demanding,” he added. “If he goes to Arsenal fine, they have a lot of supporters in Ghana.
“I will be happy if he decides to move to Arsenal. What they are discussing now is how Atletico will release him.”
The player’s agency JJSports denied Jacob Partey’s claims as “totally untrue.”
