AS Kigali maintains top spot despite draw as Marines win Rubavu derby

The Rwanda top tier league resumed with league leaders AS Kigali maintaining the top despite settling for a 1-1 draw with Bugesera away at Nyamata stadium.

Michael Nduwimana’s 10th minute goal was cancelled 7 minutes later by AS Kigali playmaker Amini Muzeru. The draw still leaves the Kigali based outfit on top of the Azam League with 24 points, two ahead of second placed Rayon Sports who forced a goalless draw against AS Muhanga at the Kigali Régional stadium.

In other matches played the same day  Sunrise FC held visiting Gicumbi to a 1-1 draw before Blaise Itangishami scored the winning goal as Marines shocked bottom placed Etincelles in the famous Rubavu derby. 

Today Rwamagana City will entertain SC Kiyovu before Police hosts visiting Espoir at the Kicukiro stadium. Other matches will see 3rd placed Mukura Victory travel away to Musonye where a win will see them leapfrog Rayon sports to the second sport.
