Ghana’s President Cup match between hosts Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak was stopped in the 70th minute after heavy rains pounded the Baba Yara Stadium rendering it unplayable.

By the time of stoppage, the score line was 1-1.Saddick Adams got Kotoko a deserved lead in the 26th minute from a penalty after Obed Owasu was brought down inside the box by Leonard Tawiah.

Hearts of Oak got an equalizer in second half through Kwame Kizito who headed home from a corner.

Kotoko however started as the better side attacking from the word go from a great Taiwah and Abbey buildup from the midfield but they wasted their chances with the former hitting wide.

The Hearts of Oak committed a blunder that they will regret for a long time with Tawiah brought down Owusu for a penalty that the latter slotted in with ease.

It then turned to be a midfield battle between the two sides as Kotoko’s prowess stood out on various occasions and forcing Oaks to concede freekicks at dangerous areas.

Taiwah should have equalized from yet another freekick after he was fouled by Kwame 20 yards out of the area but his curled in kick went wide.

Kwame Kizito then fetched the important equalizer with a wonderful header in the 51th minute.

It is now left to the federation to reschedule the match.
