A brace from Ahmed Toure handed Ivory Coast’s ASEC Mimosas a 2-0 win over Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca in a CAF Champions League, Group A encounter at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan on Saturday night.
The opening half failed to produce any fireworks with both teams firing blanks in front of goal as the first stanza ended goalless.
The second half was a much more entertaining encounter with Ahmed Toure finding the back of the net in the 68th minute after clinical finish to give ASEC a 1-0 lead.
Toure put the result beyond doubt a minute from time with his second goal to hand the Ivorian side a 2-0 win on the night.
The win is ASEC’s second in the group stages and sees them on seven points from five games while Wydad are also on seven points from the same number of games.
ASEC are in action again in the Champions League next Saturday away to Nigeria’s Lobi Stars while Wydad Casablanca are at home to Mamelodi Sundowns on the same day.
