ASEC Mimosas are the 2017 Cote d’Ivoire Super Cup (also known as Felix Houphouet-Boigny Cup) winners after edging arch rivals Africa Sports 1-0 at Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny Saturday.

Diomande Hamed Herve, who was named man of the match, banged in the lone goal in the 23rd minute to settle the tie.

The gong was the yellow and Blacks’ 16th overall and a first since 2011.

The cup is played between the Cote d’Ivoire League 1 winner and the Cote d’Ivoire Cup winner.

It paves way for the new League 1 season kick-off.

ASEC, as the 2016/17 League 1 champions will represent the country in the 2018 African Champions League while cup winners Africa Sports will take part in the CAF Confederations Cup.
