ASEC Mimosas have given an update on the legal case over Jean-Michael Seri’s transfer to Fulham from Nice – claiming they have not sued either side.
Reports at the end of 2018 claimed that the FA were probing Fulham over his transfer to Nice with Jean-Louis Dupont, the man behind the Bosman Ruling, claiming that the Whites played an active role in the manipulation of the deal to save money on bonus payments.
Seri had a reported release clause of £35.5million at Nice but it is claimed that Fulham signed him and team mate Maxime Le Marchand for a combined £25.1million, meaning that the Ivory Coast international’s former clubs missed out payments due.
However, Ivory Coast side ASEC Mimosas, who Seri played for for three years between 2010 and 2013 before making the switch to Pacos de Ferreira in Portugal, have released a statement saying that have not sued either Fulham or Nice over Seri’s transfer.
However, Roger Ouegnin, Chairman of the Board of Directors at the club, did say they have joined with some of the other clubs to commission a specialised firm to obtain precise information on the amount the Seri was sold for in order to establish if fees are owed to his former clubs.
A statement released on the ASEC Mimosas website said: “For several months, we read in the press the information that ASEC Mimosas has sued the French club OGC Nice to recover compensation that would be due to him following the international transfer of our former player Jean-Michael Seri .
“ASEC Mimosas informs Shareholders and the sports public that it has not yet brought any legal action against this club or against the new club of the player, Fulham FC.
“On the other hand, ASEC Mimosas has joined some of the other player training clubs that have commissioned a specialised firm to obtain precise information on the amounts of the player’s transfer indemnity.
“This information will make it possible to calculate the solidarity contribution allowances that should be paid to the training clubs.”
