Moroccan side FAR Rabat stormed to the apex of Group C of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League after coming from a goal down to see off Togo’s AS Kara 5-1 at home on Sunday.
Rabat, who started their group phase campaign last weekend with an exciting 2-2 draw away to Pyramids have now moved to four points on top of the table. Egyptians Pyramids and Future FC are second and third, both with two points.
The Moroccans found themselves trailing 1-0 at home within the opening quarter of an hour. Harissou Ouro struck them into the lead finishing off Abdou Ouattara’s assist.
But, the Moroccans gave a fight, infront of their home faithful in Rabat. They went to the break tied at 1-1 after Mohamed Hrimat struck them level with six minutes left to halftime.
They went on the rampage in the second half. Ahmed Hammoudan took them into the lead just five minutes after the restart before Igmane Hamza scored their third goal in the 63rd minute.
Kara looked to have caved in and they allowed their hosts to see more of the ball and they ultimately opened a bigger gap when Mustapha Sahd scored the fourth, to virtually put the game into safety.
Zakaria Fati drove the final nail on the Kara coffin with the fifth, in the second minute of added time.
Elsewhere, Diables Noirs moved to four points and top in Group B after a 0-0 draw away to DC Motema Pembe.
