Ivory Coast international forward Roger Claver Assale has joined Swiss Super League side Berner Sport Club Young Boys from TP Mazembe of DR Congo.
This after penning a 6-month deal Friday 10 with the 11-times Swiss champions, Mazembe confirmed.
“The TPM wishes RC7 the best future with his new club,” the CAF Confederations Cup 2016 champions posted on their official website.
Assale, 23, joined the 5-times African champions in 2014 from Sewe Sport (Ivory Coast) – helping them to Champions League crown a year later, CAF Cup and CAF Super Cup titles in 2016, plus other numerous domestic honors.
He becomes the fourth point-man to depart the Lubumbashi heavyweights in less than a month – after Mervaille Bope Bokadi, Jonathan Bolingi and Christian Luyindama signed loan deals with Starndard Liege (Belgium) – soon after Gabon AFCON 2017.
Mazembe are preparing for the Super Cup defense against reigning African Champions Mamelodi Sundowns next week in Pretoria.
Bookmakers predict a weakened opposition from them due to the high profile departures.
