AUSTINE OF SOKA25EAST.COM visits ZAMBIA
One of the Football Kenya Soccer Analysts visited Zambia in the month of February and Bwezani with Zambian Football took time to discuss with Austin on his impression of Football in Zambia and his thoughts on this special visit.
BWF: SHARE YOUR OBJECTIVE FOR VISITING ZAMBIA.
Austin: My objective of the trip was a self-organized trip in conjunction with Soka25east to get to know the level of soccer in Zambia, how clubs are run of course and many more things happening in Zambia.
BWF: WITH THE FEW DAYS SPENT IN ZAMBIA, WHAT IS YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF FOOTBALL IN ZAMBIA NOW?
Austin: The country is a football hub with many soccer lovers unlike Kenya where you find a mixture like athletics, soccer, rugby etc. The Zambians are so passionate about soccer and even the head of state takes the leading roles in matters football. Infect I came to realize that the head of state is the sponsor of the Barclays cup and patron of the football team. It’s a country where if the resident hires five chattered planes to take fans outside for an international fixture, no one will complain.
BWF: SHARE A BIT ABOUT SOKA25EAST.
Austin: Soka25east is a football site that majorly offers news of African soccer, it earlier began as a cecafa blog and majorly with countries having the code 25 though it has changed and co-opted all aspects of soccer around Africa. We have Zambians like James Sibeleki, Kelvin Masako, Aaron Mubanga and Bwezani Mbewe as some of the writers, it also has a large base in Ethiopia
BWF: YOUR MESSAGE TO ZAMBIANS SOCCER FANS WHO FOLLOW SOKA25EAST.
Austin: My message to the Zambian followers is pegged on two things, it is soka25east that will give you the real exclusive and to date Zambian soccer news including Africa. The other is that we will continue writing and updating more on Zambian football and that’s why I had to travel to Zambia to have a feel of the country so that when writing I feel easy as I tend to know what am talking about.
BWF: DO YOU THINK SOKA 25EAST CAN MAKE A BIG IMPACT IN A COUNTRY LIKE ZAMBIA?
Austin: Yes Soka25east can make a big impact in Zambia, as far as am concerned, we have a team full of experience and rich in knowledge of Zambian football, we are actually the only online site relaying Zambian soccer exclusively, we plan to make it big and even set Zambian offices.
BWF: SHARE THE EXPERIENCE WITH THE PEOPLE YOU MET DURING YOUR VISIT.
Austin: My journey to Zambia was exclusively posted on our site dubbed ‘My football adventure in Zambia and in parts. I met several people some of whom we were just friends in social media, special recognition goes to our own soka25east writers James Sibeleki of Livingstone, Aaron Mubanga of Lusaka, Kelvin Musako of Kabwe. I also happened to have visited FAZ offices where I met some officials, I met Hamz Mwinga at Livingstone, Cliff Njovu and Cephas Tembo in Ndola, Zimba, Lombe and Timothy Kambanja in Kitwe.
BWF: ARE YOU COMING BACK AGAIN?
Austin: Zambia is home now because I have a lot of friends and Bwezani won’t let me be if I don’t come back and I wish the Zambian friends can also come to Kenya because we are now a global village and soccer can actually bring us together. We speak one language.
SPECIAL THANKS
So Grateful Austin for the visit to the home of Football in Southern and Central Africa and as you rightly put it, this is home for everyone who loves the Zambian game.
