Harambee Starlets have completed their preparations ahead of the first-round Africa Women Nations Cup qualifier return match against Uganda. The much awaited clash will take place on Sunday at the Startimes Stadium in Kampala.
Kick-off is at 4 pm EAT.
Starlets had a feel of the match venue, the home of KCCA FC, on Saturday and looked in great form.
This was head coach David Ouma’s fourth training session since the squad started camp on Friday for the second-leg match which comes days after Starlets won the first leg 1-0 on Wednesday at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
Lilian Adera scored the all-important goal in the 53rd minute from long range, a goal the Starlets held on for a crucial first-leg advantage.
“We gave a good account of ourselves in the first leg. We have had adequate preparations for the return match and I am confident we will get a positive result,” said Ouma.
It will be an opportunity for Starlets to build on their impressive performance. The character they showed to a much improved Crested Cranes side encourage the coach and fans alike.
It is hoped they will carry this momentum into the second leg and add more misery to the Ugandans where Ouma will be counting on the teams run in previous two outings between both sides where his team has won both encounters.
Before the Wednesday clash, Starlets beat Uganda 4-0 each during the CECAFA Women Championship and a friendly match, both games played in 2016.
The winner across the two legs will meet West African side Equatorial Guinea in the final round, between June 4, and June 12, 2018.
The eventual successful country will thus play among the finalists at the final tournament in Ghana. The tournament will run from November 17 to December 1 this year.
Kenya made a maiden appearance at the 2016 showpiece in Cameroon, bowing out in the first round at the hands of Ghana, Mali, and Nigeria.
