The Morocco Women’s National Team will be hunting for glory as host Nation of the 2022 TotalEnergies African Women’s Cup of Nations.
The tournament kicks off on July 2 with Morocco hoping to secure the trophy on home soil.
This is Morocco’s third participation in the tournament. Their first appearance was in 1998 before qualifying for another AWCON in 2000. On both occasions, Morocco have not gone past the group stages.
The Lionesses have skillful players in their ranks that will be expected to propel the team to success. Among them, El Chad Nesryne, Saoud Imane, and Ayane Rosella Annie.
Morocco is placed in Group A alongside Burkina Faso, Uganda and Senegal.
Morocco will be looking to secure a berth at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup which will be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand by at least reaching the Semi Finals.
