Bamba TV will soon be unveiled as the media sponsor of Kenya’s second tier football league, the National Super League (NSL) on a four-year-deal.
A source privy to the negotiations intimated to Soka25east.com that the deal midwifed by television rights distribution giants MP & Silva who owns the property (NSL), is as good as sealed.
“All but two of the twenty clubs in the NSL have penned their signatures and given the deal the green light; the remaining two, Agro Chemical and Modern Coast will do so on the unveiling day,”
“The idea was to be as open as possible and carry everyone on board,” the source added.
The non-exclusive deal guarantees Football Kenya Federation (FKF) 10% of the proceeds, and in case of further profits in future, the federation will pocket 10% of the gains and share the remainder with MP & Silva on a fifty fifty basis. The other finer details including how much the deal is worth and what will trickle down to the clubs are still kept secret.
Bamba recently launched a 24-hour sports channel to be headed by celebrated sports television personality Carol Radull to carry sports news, football highlights and local sports events.
Radull was categorical during the launch this week that the channel will air a local league, “We are making a commitment to changing sports in the country and we will air a local league because we feel it’s our responsibility to grow local sports,” she was quoted on goal.com.
Bamba TV was launched on 22nd December 2014 and is managed by Lancia Digital Broadcast Limited, a Radio Africa Group subsidiary. It is a conditional access set-top box that airs both exclusive content and available free to air channels.
