The draw for the 2016 Barclays Cup preliminary
and quarter final rounds was conducted at
Pamodzi Hotel where the format for this year’s
competition was revealed on Tuesday.

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Deputy
General Secretary Lombe Mbalashi told fazfootball.com that for the first time the
competition will have a preliminary knockout
round featuring FAZ Division One teams.

The four teams qualified for the preliminary round which will be played at Sunset Stadium on 11th September are Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy, Konkola Blades, Nampundwe and Zesco Victoria Falls.

Zone One qualifiers Nampundwe will play against Zone Two side Konkola Blades while Zesco Victoria Falls from Zone Four will play Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy from Zone Three.

Two winners from the preliminary round will
qualify for the quarter-finals where they will join
MTN FAZ Super League teams Nkana, Green
Buffaloes, Zesco United, Zanaco, Power Dynamos and Kabwe Warriors.

The quarter-finals will be hosted at Nkoloma
Stadium on 17th and 18th September.
Holders Green Buffaloes will match up against
Power Dynamos while Zanaco will play against
Kabwe Warriors.

Nkana will play the winner of the preliminary
round tie between Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy and Zesco Victoria Falls while the winner of the tie between Nampundwe and Konkola Blades will play Zesco United.

The quarter-final match involving Zesco United
will be postponed to a later date because the
fixture clashes with a CAF Champions League
semi-final fixture.

The semi-finals will be hosted at Arthur Davies
Stadium on October 15 and the final at Nkoloma on a date to be announced.
