The final promotional slot to the Azam sponsored Uganda Premier league will be decided on Saturday 16th May when two Jinja based Clubs Jinja SS Kirinya face off with their closest rivals Jinja Municipal in a one off playoff match which will be played at Lugogo’s Philip Omondi Stadium in Kampala.
To reach the play off Final, Jinja SS Kirinya beat Water FC 5-4 on post match penalties after the two teams drew 0-0 in regulation time. The other Jinja based team Jinja Municipal beat Masaka IC 1-0 to proceed to the final playoff match.
The match that is slated for Saturday 16th at 2 pm will decide the 3 rd team to join already qualified Maroons FC and The Saints who will meet later in the same day at 4 pm in the same venue to decide the overall winner of the FUFA big league, Uganda’s second tier league.
The Saints were declared winners of the Ruwenzori Zone of the league after beating Jinja Municipal in the last match while Maroons won the Elgon Zone after stopping Synergy by a similar goal.
The play offs begun yesterday and now it remains which of the Jinja based teams will join the Azam Ugandan league, however Jinja will be assured another representative in the top tier. They will now have 3 teams in the top tier if the two Clubs in Sadolin and Bul FC survives the axe.
