A 74th minute strike from former Express FC net buster Charles Ssemanda was enough to hand newly appointed club tacticians Frank Video Anyau and James Odoch a winning start against VCC at Villa park today evening.
The 26 year old striker scored from a well taken free kick past custodian goal keeper Steven Okot sixteen minutes from time to take his big league tally to four goals.
Baza now sit top of the top of the Rwenzori FUFA Big League group with 22 points one goal better than Lweza FC who return to action of Saturday against Ndejje University away.
In the other Rwenzori Group game, Wandegeya and Artland Koboko settled for a 1-all draw at Kiteezi. Shafiq Mulangira scored for Wandegeya before Joseph Mutyaba leveled for last year’s play-off losers Artland Koboko.
In the Elgon group, it was Fredrick Onyango’s 56th minute strike at Kakindu that handed the hosts Jinja Municipal Council a 1-0 win over Soroti Garagi.
A brace from Edmond Wafula in first half and another from Godfrey Wafula helped Busia United beat Kumi University 3-1 away in Kumi to climb fourth of the ten team log with 17 points while leaders Sadolin got a walkover after Mbale Heroes failed to travel to Bugembe.
Sadolin FC still leads the Elgon group with 28 points five ahead of second placed KJT Rwenshama and third placed Jinja Municipal council. Action continues Saturday with five games on card.
