Frenchman Patrice Beaumelle has been linked with the Chipolopolo job according to reports in the Zambian Press.
Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Andrew Kamanga recently revealed that the Chipolopolo will soon have a new coach.
The Times of Zambia in its report today suggests that the former Chipolopolo trainer is on a list of candidates being considered to take over reigns of the National team from George Lwandamina.
This news has not been received well by some concerned football fans who have taken to social media to express their reservations over Beaumelle’s credibility.
Beaumelle was part of the technical bench when Zambia won the 2012 Africa Cup Nations in Gabon. Many fans in Zambia have always regarded Beaumelle as Herve Renards sidekick, who is incapable of leading on his own.
When Herve Renard took over the reigns of the Chipolopolo for the second time, prior to the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, Patrice Beaumelle joined him to be part of staff as Physical Trainer.
Patrice Beaumelle was handed the reigns of the Chipolopolo when Herve Renard quit to take over French Ligue 1 side Sochaux.
The Frenchman’s stint didn’t last long as he decided to step down to team up with compatriot Herve Renard in Ivory Coast. Of course Patrice would go on to help Renard win another Afcon title with the elephants in 2015.
But that still will not convince the fans to have Patrice as Chipolopolo trainer should he be chosen. His decision to quit the top post as Zambia head coach did not go down well with many.
Other candidates believed to be in contention include veteran French coach Philippe Troussier and Ex Tunisian boss Bertrand Marchan
