Nairobi regional finals of the Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom tournament is scheduled for Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 at the Jamhuri High School grounds.
In the girls category, season 1 champions Starehe’s Beijing Raiders are on a mission to reclaim lost glory when they lock horns with Kibagare Girls from Westlands in the semifinals.
Raiders head coach Mark Okwiri is confident that his charges will come out victorious.
“We are prepared for the tournament. This season, I brought in fresh blood who are hungry for the glory.
These are young players who I feel have a unique and exciting style of play that will give us the much deserved win and a chance to represent Nairobi Region at the Nationals,” said Okwiri.
Meanwhile, defending champions Acakoro Ladies are set to face Makadara’s St.Anne’s Eaglets.
In last year’s regional final, Acakoro FC edged past Kibera FC’s Carolina 5-4 in post-match penalty shoot out after a 1-1 stalemate at full time.
Acakoro progressed to the national finals where they Kitale Queens pipped them to the title with a 4-2 scoreline.Saturday winners will face off in the finals on Sunday 23 at the same venue.
The winning teams will cash in KES 200,000 each and a chance to represent the region in the national finals slated for June.
A cool KES 1, 000, 000 will be up for grabs with the runners up pocketing KES 100,000 and a host of individual prices to be won.
An all-star team comprising of 16 girls and 16 boys will then be selected to attend a 10-day training camp in Spain where they will play friendlies against top Spanish La Liga football academies.
