KCCA goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan is all set for 2016/17 season kick off in a few days time, well aware, as champions, they will be the main target.

Ochan who worked hard to own the number one jersey last season, guiding the Lugogo giants to 11th Azam Uganda Premier League crown, his first career league title, is looking forward to an improved season in terms of performance.

“This season I expect to be a better player for the team because have really worked hard to keep my form and my confidence is really up, there is a good understanding with my teammates, coaches which is important if we are to defend our league glory,” Ochan said.

“Everyone will be looking at us as the team to beat, and we are up for the challenge, the coaches know how best the team will work and we are ready to execute that plan.” The experienced shot-stopper added.

A more settled Ochan, is oozing confidence in his abilities. He managed 9 clean sheets in 17 outings for the Coach Mike Mutebi’s side and four games in the Uganda Cup campaign.

“Last season I struggled a lot especially in the beginning, I wasn’t aware about my status on the team and my confidence was low because I was always in and out of goal,” He continued.

“That changed the moment my game time increased and my teammates started believing in me and all that was crowned with league glory as the icing on the cake.”

KCCA edged Vipers SC 1-0 to bag the league curtain raiser, FUFA Super Cup on Sunday.

They open their league defense against JMC Hippos on August 19, 2016 at the Philip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

The match will be free for all pupils and students in school uniforms.
