The President of the Botswana Football Association McLean Letshwiti has sent a word of encouragement and congratulations to the Botswana National Team for representing the country at the just ended 2021 COSAFA tournament held in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
In a statement released on Monday, Letshwiti describes the competition as a great platform for young players to gain exposure.
“The Botswana Football Association (BFA) National Executive Committee (NEC) and I wish to send a word of encouragement to the Zebras team which represented the country at the just ended Cosafa Cup in Port Elizabeth, South Africa,” Letshwiti said.
“Whilst the results may not entirely represent our expectations, we are encouraged by the spirit and determination displayed by the team despite the challenges that preceded camp. The quality and number of goals we scored represents a worthwhile improvement.”
Letshwiti states that The BFA will continue to prioritize grassroots development which actually feed competitions
“Youth development remains key in our priorities. We therefore undertake to work with both players and the technical team and other stakeholders in finding a permanent solution to the problems and challenges of Zebras players regarding welfare matters,” he added.
The BFA boss has since congratulated South Africa for been crowned Champions of the 2021 COSAFA Tournament.
Botswana recorded a 1-0 loss against hosts South Africa before thumping Lesotho 4-0 in the second game. The Zebras lost 2-1 to Zambia and drew 1-1 with Eswatini which saw them eliminated from the competition at the Group stage.
