But it does mean that Mark Hughes will be without Oduor and the injured Alex Pattison in his midfield options for the Saturday lunchtime clash with the Mariners at Valley Parade.
Oduor was previously picked for the country of his birth in a 2-1 friendly win over Zambia in October 2020.
Hughes said: “Clarke is a good player and people are recognising that – clearly his international team has as well.
“I think he was looking forward to it and wanted to go.
“He obviously had a slight injury prior to the Mansfield game but he came through that okay.
“He was just tiring during the game but there was no issue.”
Oduor flew out today to link up with the Kenya squad. City will be keeping their fingers crossed that all goes to plan for him.
“Until they come back safe and well, you’re always wary of injuries or delays in travel,” added Hughes.
“It’s more difficult at this level because you miss games. The league isn’t suspended to allow these internationals.
“You know they are going to miss some games but hopefully it will just be the one and he’ll be back and ready to go as soon as he can.”
