Brasiliense of Brazil fought gallantly to upset impressive Ethiopia’s Walia Ibex 2-0 in an entertaining match played at the 32,000 seater Estádio Elmo Serejo Farias City Taguatinga, Distrito Federal on Wednesday evening.
Brasiliense coach Mark Smith imposed a tough 4-2-3-1 system that played in the hands of Ethiopia with coach Mariano Barreto with a more familiar 4-1-4-1 system .
Barreto started with a strong team that had Tassew in goal as Vilak,Salhadin Bargecho,Thok James and Abebaw Butako manned the defense as Mentesot,Assefa,Nathaniel,Tadel Bekele and Adane Girma played in the midfield and striking respectively.
It was a game lanced with tiki taka football from both sides in an entertaining atmosphere that saw Walia fire from all cylinders but could not get the elusive goals as Brasiliense capitalized from defensive lapses to score two quick goals.
