Banyana Banyana suffered 0-3 defeat to Brazil during a friendly international played at the Orlando Stadium on Friday night.
South Africa had bright moments in the game with Jermaine Seoposenwe and Linda Motlhalo trying to create openings for the hosts in the early exchanges.
However, Brazil took charge of the match and forced Banyana Banyana to make defensive errors.
First half goals from Geyse in the 40th minute and Adriana just before the half-time break got the ball rolling for the South Americans. Then Tamires increased the lead for the visitors when she placed the ball into an empty net in the 64th minute.
To their credit, the SASOL-sponsored Banyana Banyana never dropped their heads and continued to look for the goal that would have made the vociferous crowd at Orlando Stadium happy.
The two sides will resume the action when they meet in the second match at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Monday, 5 September 2022.
