Football Kenya Federation has suspended the planned start of the Kenya Premier league with immediate effect.
Football Kenya Federation president Nick Mwendwa said the planned league kick off wont take place and that the federation will initiate disciplinary proceedings against KPL CEO Jack Oguda,Chairman James Musyoki and vice Chairman Ambrose Rachier following their failure to include two promoted teams -Vihiga United and KCB in the top tier .They went further to release the fixtures of the 2017 KPL with exclusion of two promoted teams,thereby reinstating both Muhoroni and Sofapaka which had earlier failed to meet the licencing requirement.
Speaking to journalists at the Federations headquarters at Kasarani ,FKF President Nick Mwendwa said “FKF disciplinary committee will follow process and summon individuals to be heard and they will pass ruling. The three have brought the game into disrepute. We take serious exceptions as a federation in what KPL said in their statement as well as Rachier’s letter going against clear directives,”
pursuant to his statement ,he reitareted “ We can’t keep extending these wars.” the federation will ensure that the league will feature 18 teams with inclusion of the newly promoted teams- Nzoia United, Kariobangi Sharks, Nakumatt FC, Zoo Kericho, KCB and Vihiga United.
