THE Lusaka High Court has sentenced former
Zambia National soccer team midfielder Duddley Fichite 25 years for defilement. This according Zambia’s biggest Private Newspaper The post.

Fichite, a staff sergeant of Arakan Barracks, was convicted by Lusaka magistrate Betty Malupenga of defiling his 10-year-old niece whom he infected with HIV and syphilis in December 2014.

Magistrate Malupenga had found that it was not
in dispute that the victim was below 16 years,
committed Fichite to the High Court for
sentencing after his conviction.

And passing sentence, Lusaka High Court judge
Sharon Newa jailed the convict 25 years.
Fichite has since appealed to the Supreme Court against the judgment.

During trial, the victim’s grandmother testified
that the girl was diagnosed with HIV and syphilis after she came back from Fichite’s home in Lusaka where she had gone for a holiday.
