Jesse Jackson Were scored a brace in Zesco United’s 2-2 draw with Al Ahly to send the Zambian champions an inch closer to the Semi finals in match day 5 of the CAF Champions League in Suez.
Were struck in the 5th minute to send the home crowd into shock as the team from Ndola showed an attacking intent early on.
The Home team struggled to find an opening until in the 31st minute when Ramy Rabia equalized from a corner routine. Zesco again showing weakness on the set piece.
But Were restored Zesco’s lead in the 34th minute to send the visitors into the dressing rooms with a 2-1 advantage.
The second half was more of a cautious affair as Zesco United looked to play out the remainder of the match.
However Al Ahly scored a late equalizer 5 minutes from time.
The draw now puts pressure on Martin Jol as Zesco United is poised to progress into the semi finals should Wydad Casablanca win against Asec Mimosas
2-2 was the final score as Zesco now move to 8 points and top Group A
