English Football League Championship side Bristol City are closing on a deal for Senegalese international  Famara Diedhiou.

Various reports in the United Kingdom suggest that the agreement will be in place before the end of this week.

A four- year deal is being mooted for the 24-year-old who impressed at Ligue 1 last season, scoring 8 goals in all competitions for the Angers which helped the club finish 12th in the table

The Robins are willing to pay for a fee reported to be at least £5m and if the deal is completed, it would smash City’s previous transfer record, the £3.25m they paid for Jonathan Kodjia in 2015.

Prior to joining Angers, he played for Sochaux, where he scored once in 13 matches, during which time he enjoyed a successful loan at Clermont, notching 23 times in 50 appearances.

Diedhiou received his first call-up to national team last year and scored his first goal for Senegal in a 2–0 win over Namibia in an 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
