Unconfirmed reports states that Kenya could have been stripped off rights to host the 2018 CHAN tournament
Earlier today ,Kenya Football governing body FKF stated that the planned inspection by CAF was cancelled considering the political situation in Kenya where the Supreme court ordered for fresh presidential elections in Kenya
The team was to arrive and begin the inspection from September 7-12th buy instead has sent CAF 1st Vice president Constant Omari to assess the situation in Kenya .Omari is expected this evening in the country
The presidential election will cost the country approximately 1Billion Kenya shillings and with most of the stadiums not ready and behind schedule ,the Government may not prioritize the tournament instead the election
The elections will be held in less than 60 days and in case of a run off another sixty days
The Sports ministry is non committals on their chances of hosting with the Federation unable to confirm if they are ready
The tournament may be shifted to either Morocco or South Africa
Ethiopia will host the 2020 edition .The last edition which was successful was hosted by Rwanda .
If CAF announce a new host nation ,Kenya who had already qualified as hosts will miss the 2018 edition and may face sanctions .
Kenya lost the chance to host the 1996 AFCON with South Africa winning it on their first attempt after they had stepped in to replace Kenya
