Burkina Faso sealed qualification to the quarterfinals of the Total Africa Cup of Nations, Gabon 2017 following a convincing 2-0 victory over Guinea-Bissau at the Stade de Franceville on Sunday evening, 22 January 2017.
Burkina Faso’s first goal came from a miscommunication in the Bissau defense with Rudnilson Silva heading past his goalkeeper Jonas Mendes to set up Prejuce Nakoulma who gladly slotted from a goal line clearance on 20 minutes.
Guinea-Bissau had chances to score but were let down by poor finishing.
Frederick Mendy, Zezinho and Piqueti ran tirelessly but Koffi stood firm in goal for Burkina Faso.
Bertrand Traore ensured victory for the Stallions in the 58th minute to finish off a lovely run by Nakoulma.
Burkina Faso top Group A with 5 points ahead of Cameroon in second just edged out on goal difference.
