Burundi will be desperate to exact revenge on Namibia when the two teams lock horns in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Windhoek on Tuesday.
The Swallows suffered a surprise 3-1 defeat to the Brave Warriors in Bujumbura at the weekend, a bitter blow to their hopes of qualifying for a first AFCON tournament in their history.
Senegal top Group K having managed three wins from three fixtures and look sure to book their place in Gabon next year. The West African nations face Niger in Niamey on the same day.
Namibia national team coach Ricardo Mannetti was delighted with his side ending their poor away record in AFCON qualifying, but has warned of a possible backlash in the reverse clash.
“This a special victory for us because we have not won away from home in over three years and we needed this,” Mannetti told the Nambian Football Association’s official website
“It was all about players responding to instructions from the coach and we played much better second half.”
The 2015 COSAFA Cup champions scored three goals in the second half, with Hendrik Somaeb netting in stoppage time after Fiston Abdul Razak had pulled a goal back for Burundi.
“It was important for us to win over the fans and that worked well for us,” added Mannetti.
“We go back home and will not underestimate Burundi at all. We are going to treat our fans to some entertaining football, they deserve it.”
Kick-off at the Sam Nujoma Stadium is scheduled for 17h00 CAT.
