Cranes defender Savio Kabugo is upbeat about Uganda’s chances of getting a good result against South Sudan in the 2018 CHAN qualifier slated for Saturday July 22 at the Phillip Omondi Stadium in Kampala.
Kabugo, who played also in first leg of the match where Cranes were held to a goalless draw away, admitted that South Sudan have strong attacking line though he maintained his team mates focus is on making it to next stage of the competition.
“They were so unpredictable, strong, well-built and had a few chances to hurt us. We now know how to tame their two strikers and we will shut them out at Lugogo,” he said in an interview with Daily Monitor.
The defender who came out of an injury months ago played three games at the 2014 Chan tourney in South Africa is optimistic Cranes will be in Nairobi next year.
“We have 99 per cent chance of going through. Our strikers can score goals even if they missed a couple in Juba. I want to play at the Chan tourney again,” added Kabugo.
Cranes will however have another hundle as they will meet the winner between Rwanda and Tanzania later in August for another two legged encounter where the winner will proceed to the CHAN finals.
