CAF, the Africa’s football confederation has cancelled CHAN inspection mission to Kenya due to the prevailing political mood in the country.

The visit was scheduled to begin on 7th September ahead of the CHAN tournament planned for Kenya next year.

“We have just been informed that in light of the recent happenings CAF will be sending its second Vice President Mr. Constant Omari to access the political and security situation of the country, before they can proceed with the inspection visit,” a letter from FKF President Nick Mwendwa states in part.

Kenya’s political environment remains uncertain following the invalidation of the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta by the Supreme Court of Kenya on 1st this month.

A repeat election was ordered in the next sixty days meaning there will be intense political activity in the country in the coming days.

Mr. Omari who is also the DRC FA boss will jet in Sunday evening. A new inspection date will be communicated after Omari’s mission.
