Total CAF Confederations Cup action will resume this weekend with eight 2019-20 group stage matches scheduled for Sunday.
Only one team has booked their place in the knockout stages of this season’s competition after four rounds of fixtures, with that team being Pyramids FC.
The Egyptian club side have been on a mission to establish themselves as a force on the African continent and with a maximum 12 points from four matches and 13 goals scored, they were the first team to seal a quarter-final spot.
Last season’s runners-up RS Berkane sit atop Group B, level on points with DC Motema Pembe and just a point above third placed Zanaco heading into matchday five. The Moroccan club are away to ESAE this weekend as they continue in their quest of going a step further than they did last season.
In Group C, Guinean giants Horoya AC lead the way having yet to concede a goal in the group stages this season. They take on South Africa’s Bidvest Wits this weekend, while Djoliba and Al Nasr battle in Bamako.
Hassania Agadir are best placed to advance as Group D winners, having moved up to 10 points following a hat-trick by top goalscorer Karim El Berkaoui in their most recent encounter. The Moroccans are away to Enyimba this weekend.
