Morocco’s Renaissance Berkane went to the top of Group B in the African Confederation Cup on Sunday after holding Zanaco of Zambia to a 1-1 draw at Lusaka’s National Heroes Stadium.
Cheikh Djibril Oauttara put the visitors ahead on 15 minutes but the lead for the Moroccan club, who were runners-up in the competition last season, lasted only 10 minutes before Charles Zulu equalised for the hosts.
Zulu might have won it for the bankers five minutes from time but put his header wide.
Zanaco have now drawn their opening group games 1-1 after a stalemate at Daring Club Motema Pembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo last week.
Berkane, who have four out of a possible six points, now host DCMP in their next group game on December 29 while Zanaco go away to Esae FC from Benin on the same day.
