TP Mazembe made a meal of visiting Algerian outfit Jeunesse Sportive de Kabylie – hitting them 2-0 in the CAF Confederations Cup playoffs in Kamalondo on Sunday.

The Ravens, who are the defending champions, scored through Zambian midfielder Nathan Sinkila and Malian forward Salif Coulibay to seal the comfortable triumph.

The reverse tie takes place in a week’s time in Tizou Ouzou on April 16th – with the aggregate winner advancing to the lucrative group phase of the second rate African club tournament.

Sinkala struck home a sumptuous free-kick after Medhi Benaldjia fouled Tresor Mputu to break the deadlock in the 12th minute.

JSK tested keeper Vincent Gbohouo with Mohamed Abdelali’s first shot on target but, the Ivory Coast shot stopper was equal to the task.

Nasr Eddine Benabnou came close to a leveler for the Canaries in the 33rd minute, however, his effort was not enough to trouble Gbohouo who was on top form.

Mazembe, five times African champions exhausted all their three substitutions in the second half as they pushed to finish the game.

Given Singuluma, Solomon Asante and Ben Malango replaced Meschack Elia, Adama Traore and Tresor Mputu respectively.

Asante’s inclusion proved spot on as he delivered a pin point corner, which Coulibaly connected in for the second goal with a minute on the clock.

Mazembe are chasing a second CAF Cup glory after they were knocked out of the Champions League by Zimbabwe’s CAPS United on a way goal’s rule after a 1-1 aggregate score.
