Ulinzi Stars head coach Benjamin Nyangweso is confident that his team will be at its best during the first round of the CAF Confederations Cup having progressed after beating Al Hilal Benghazi of Libya 5-4 on penalties on Saturday 18 February.
In an interview with the club portal, Nyangweso affirmed that his team played well during the second leg and they will ensure that they even perform better during the first round matches aganist Egyptian side Smouha with the first fixture set for Alexandria on March 10.
“It was very good to qualify because were determined to do so. It wasn’t an easy match especially when the opponents were frustrating us by wasting a lot of time. But now that we are through we have to start planning for the next round. It gets harder and the work has just began,” said Nyangweso.
Nyagweso also noted the kind of challenge that they will be going to facing basing on the fact that Egyptians are not always easy.
“Egyptian opponents are never easy to go up against but we will plan adequately and prepare well for them. It is unfortunate that the league is not progressing here at the moment and I would like to urge both parties to work in resolving the issues,” the tactician added.
Kenya Premier League has been hit by delays, something that Nyangweso has noted with a concern as it may affect his players performance.
“Lack of match fitness might haunt us but we will try and get tough friendly matches so that we are ready for the game,” the coach noted.
