Vipers SC got a slim 1-0 win over visiting Platinum Stars of South Africa in the Caf Confederation Cup first round match played on Saturday.
A second half strike from Milton Karisa won the game for the locals on Saturday.
The goal gave Vipers plenty of confidence as they wait for the return leg.
It proved to be an evenly poised affair in the opening exchanges, with both sides taking time to study each other mode of play.
Deus Bukenya had the best chance for home side in the first half,sending a screemer with Platinum goalie having to stretch,as he produced a save to keep out a long distance effort.
In the second half the visitors through Dikwena had a real chance but his effort went over the bar.
However the venoms broke the deadlock shortly after the halftime break courtesy of a strike from Milton Karisa.
Platinum made several changes in as they pushed for an away goal and their efforts were nearly rewarded but Shilongo’s header went over the bar.
