Coach Zlatko Krmpotic is confident Zesco United will finish the business against Enugu Rangers and sail through to the groups phase of the 2017 Caf Confederations Cup.
Zesco rallied to hold the Nigerian side 2-2 in the first leg played last weekend at the Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, Nigeria.
Zlat holds the two away goals puts them in the pole position to advance – heading into the second stanza on April 15th at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, Ndola, Zambia.
A win or a scoreless draw will be enough guarantee the progression.
“We still have 90 minutes to play and it will be different at home and I think we have the ability to win the final leg and qualify to the group stage,” Zlat told the club’s website.
The “team ya ziko” pulled a stunning fight back after trailing 2-0 into the second half.
Chibuzor Madu put the home side in the lead through a contestable penalty in the 24th minute, with Osas Okoro doubling the advantage in the 46th minute.
However, the Kenyan defense kingpin David Owino “Calabar” led the recovery – pulling one back in the 72nd minute, with substitute Patrick Kongolo, who was making his debut, leveling in the 76th minute.
Meanwhile, the defending CAF Confederations Cup champions TP Mzaembe of DRC will travel to Algeria on Thursday for their return leg match against JS Kabyle.
The “Ravens” hold a 2-0 first leg win over the “Canaries” and will be angling for a spot in the groups phase.
Nathan Sinkala and Salif Coulibaly scored the two goals for the 5-times African champions at the Stade Mazembe, Lubumbashi, DRC.
The draw for the groups phase, which will have a total of 16 teams for the first time, will be conducted next month at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
