Al Ahly cruised to a 4-0 win over Atlabara in a Caf Champions League preliminary round first-leg clash at Borg El-Arab stadium in Alexandria on Sunday.
The record eight-time Caf CL champions were too strong for their South Sudanese opponents from start to finish, as they kicked off their quest for a ninth continental crown in style.
Tunisia international Ali Maâloul got the Red Devils up and running in the 13th minute, converting from the spot following a foul inside the area.
Walid Azarou doubled the away team’s lead on the half-hour mark and the Moroccan forward completed his brace three minutes following the interval.
Ahmed El Sheikh rounded off the scoring in the final minute of regulation time to give the Egyptian’s a commanding lead heading into the second leg, set to take place at the same venue in two weeks time.
