ASAC Concorde have threatened to boycott their CAF Champions League preliminary round, second leg match against Esperance of Tunisia on Wednesday if the Directorate of Immigration bosses do not issue a passport to one their key players, Saidou Amadou Barry.

According to Concorde, immigration department has kept on dragging its feet about issuing Barry with a passport despite having a valid national identity card,which is a mandatory requirement for an effective application.

Barry is said to have visited  immigration offices severally to collect his document but registrar of persons has not been giving any reason why issuing of new document is taking ages.

“We will not travel to Tunisia if the registrar of persons does not issue passport to the player,” said the club president, Sy Boubacar.

“Instead of the government making it easier for us as we try to raise Mauritania flag, some of its officials are trying to make things hard for us,” Boubacar added.

Mauritania government issued a directive earlier last year directing immigration officials to accelerate issuing of passports to its citizens while remaining firm on probable cases of fraud.

Failure to comply with head of state orders by immigration officials in Barry’s case is said to have angered Boubacar, who has asked Directorate of Immigration to give Concorde a frank and precise explanation on why the delay.

Bary absence will be felt in the team if they travel without the striker, who last season scored 7 goals and was involved in several assists.
