Geoffrey Sserunkuma scored a vital away goal in KCCA FC’s 2-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns in a CAF Champions League first round encounter played at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Friday.

The Azam Uganda Premier League champions fell to Bangaly Soumahoro and Ricardo Nascimento goals in opening seven minutes .

Sundowns took the lead in the second minute of the game when Soumahoro Bangaly headed home Tebogo Langerman’s cross from a tight angle to give Pitso Mosimane’s boys the lead.

Three minutes later,Kasasiro boys defender Joseph Ochaya commited an offence inside the penalty area bringing down Thapelo Morena. Ricardo Nascimento stepped up and converted the spot-kick.

After a shaky start,Mike Mutebi boys managed to settle down with well connected passes but they failed to get clear chance in the opponents half.

Despite the KCCA threats the Brazilians were able to hold the lead as they headed into the break.

In the start of the second stanza,Sundowns continued to apply pressure and could have gone up when Hamplo Kekana had an open opportunity to extend the lead but he sent his shot wide.

KCCA pulled a goal back in the 69th minute when Sundowns second choice goalkeeper Tebogo Langerman’s slip found Sserunkuma who side-footed into the bottom corner of the net.

Brazilians could have extended their lead in the 73nd minute whe Percy Tau saw a ball from excellent play but he placed his effort wide.

KCCA defence stood firm in the last minutes of the match guarding their goalmouth aganist the champions as the score remained 2-1 at the full time whistle.
