Tonight’s clash between Egyptian side Al Ahly and Zambia’s Zesco United scheduled for the Borg el arab stadium could be the tie that decides the outlook of Group A as the CAF Champions League goes into match day 5.
A win for Al Ahly will bring them back into contention for qualification to the semi finals. Martin Jol’s men are third in the group with 4 points and a victory will take them to 7 points equal with Zesco United and Wydad Casablanca.
Two defeats in the first two games saw the 8 time record holders slip to a point of elimination but a draw against Mimosas in Cairo and a 0-1 away win at Wydad saw the Egyptians come back from the dead.
Their cause was helped by the 1 all draw between Asec Mimosas and Zesco United in Abijan.
Now Al Ahly have destiny set in their own hands as they come face to face with George Lwandamina’s Zesco United.
Zesco United will be encouraged by the very fact that are playing under no pressure and they will be away from home.
Tonight’s clash is important for Zega and should they win in Cairo it will give them a massive boost in their step towards qualification regardless of what happens in the Sunday fixture between Asec Mimosas and Wydad Casablanca.
The Al Ahly – Zesco United match starts at 21:30 CAT time
