St George recorded a sweet away victory over Cote D’Or in a CAF Champions League preliminary round encounter played at Stade d’Amitie in Praslin,Seychelles.

Ethiopia national team forward Saladin Said scored both goals in each half to give horsemen an important away win .

St George started on a high note with Menna missing what could have been an opener in the 5th minute after having been cleverly played in, unleashing an unstoppable shot that was blocked, with the rebound falling unkindly out of the field of play.

St George continued pushing and their efforts were rewarded through Saladin Said well caculated shot to put his side into the driving seat.

In the 44th minute, horsemen missed a second when Girma brilliantly left the defenders for dead and passed the ball to the first goal scorer Said who, unfortunately, was unable to hit the target with the Cote D’Or goalkeeper stranded.

In the second stanza, St George started on the high note, extending the lead  within twenty minutes after start when Salehadin Said made it a brace in 62nd minute sending horsemen supporters into jubilations.

Cote D’Or could have halved the score in the 70th minute with Babu Iddi heading a corner against the post, fortunately for St George , the ball was deflected to goalkeeper Robert Odonkarra.

The result gives St.George an opportunity to make it from the preliminary. Both teams will meet next week in Hawassa International Stadium,275 kms south of the capital,Addis-Ababa.
