Gor Mahia FC are through to the CAF Confederations group stage after their opponents Supersport United withdrew from the tournament stating relegation fears and the need to concentrate in the Premier Soccer league .They are perched at the relegation zone
Information reaching soka25east from one of the clubs officials states that the Pretoria based side wrote to CAF withdrawing from the tournament
And today CAF wrote
“We would like to inform you that South African Supersport United withdrew from the CAF Confederations play off match against Kenya’s Gor
“Consequently, the two legged matches are cancelled and Gor Mahia have qualified for the group phase,” CAF Deputy Director of competitions Khaled Nassar wrote in the letter addressed to Gor Mahia and FKF
Gor Mahia was scheduled to meet the Matsatsantsa as they are known on 8th April in Machakos with a return leg ten days later in Pretoria
The 2017 CAF Confederations finalists will now concentrate in the league to avoid chop with an away clash against Polokwane City at the old Peter Mokaba stadium on 4th April.
