CAF Disciplinary Board has fined Supersport United and TP Mazembe for crowd witnessed after their Confederations Cup finals second leg match at Lucas Moripe Stadium Saturday.
Hosts United, who were in charge of security have been handed a $15,000 fine, while Mazembe have been slapped with a $5000 fine for failing to control their fans.
Fans invaded the pitch after the trophy presentation ceremony to celebrate with the players against CAF laws.
Mazembe beat United 2-1 on aggregate to win the continental gong the second year running.
“In pursuit of article 83 and 151 of the CAF Disciplinary Code, Supersport has been fined $15,000 for the security flaw in the organization of the match.
“The South African club has been cautioned against a repeat of such incident, or risk playing their games behind closed doors,” CAF statement reads.
“On the part of TP Mazembe, they were imposed with a fine of $5,000 for the behavior of their fans, which is a violation of Articles 82 and 83 of the CAF Disciplinary Code.”
