CAF will send inspectors immediately to Kenya to embark on inspections of the 1018 CHAN facilities with immediate effect soka25east.com can exclusively reveal.
Speaking to soka25east.com CAF 2ND Vice President Constant Omari who met the government delegation led by the minister of Sports Hassan Wario and other officials said he had written to the CAF acting secretary general to immediately dispatch inspectors.
“I met the government delegation led by the minister of sports and we discussed various issues the main one being the political situation in Kenya currently and the way forward.The government has promised to send guarantees and I have asked for the CAF inspectors to immediately travel to Kenya to embark on the inspections as earlier planned”
“However the final decisions on Kenya suitability to host CHAN 2018 will be made by the CAF EXCO when they meet in Ghana later in the month after the inspectors give their final report”Consant Omari told soka25east.com
Meanwhile Mr.Omari was forced to travel back home to DR Congo immediately after he received devastating news of his brother and nephews death in a road accident .
CAF inspectors led by Mr.Omari were in Kenya in June for inspections but they left dissatisfied with the four stadiums earmarked for the tournament were still in poor shape with no work done despite many assurances.
Questions around Kenya’s readiness for the bonanza have dominated headlines with delayed works that only begun a week ago in most venues 4 months to the tournament.CAF has been worried about the new developments with word going round a plan B was already in place incase Kenya fails the inspection test.
The recent National elections have also been a cause of concern especially after the supreme court of Kenya nullified the election of Uhuru Kenyatta as President setting up another gruelling battle with elections set for October 17th 2017.
